Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Sally C. Sonnier; his paternal grandparents, Eli and Pearl Sonnier; his paternal grandmother, Vera Sonnier; his maternal grandparents, Bennett and Bernice Credeur; his Godparents, Harry Credeur, and Cheryl Sonnier.

Donald was a wonderful person who never failed to make everyone around him laugh. He loved to joke and pick, and especially loved when people picked backed. He never met a stranger and was affectionately known as the "Daily World." He carried a heavy cross during his time on Earth, but he did it with strength, grace, and character. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.

The family would like to send a heartfelt Thank You to all the staff at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home, and all his physicians.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Leckelt Richard, daughters; Tiffany Dawn Joubert and husband Jason, Olivia Louise Duplechin and companion Robert Patton, one sister, Marie and husband Charlie Jagneaux, grandchildren; Peyton Joubert, Abby Duplechin, Layla Duplechin Patton.

Edward’s family was his pride and joy, he enjoyed spending time with them every chance he had. He loved fishing, gardening, and making people laugh. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for everyone.He was a proud member of the Richard Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2504 in Church Point as a 4th Degree Knight.He was employed as a propane delivery driver for over 30 years for Reed Gas.Eddie was a parishioner of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Richard.

Pallbearers for the services will be Jason Joubert, Peyton Joubert, Robert Patton, Dusty Edwards, Alex Duplechin, and Cecil Edwards.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Herman and Lourence Richard, a son Michael Sidney Richard, a sister, Henrietta Deshotel.

At the time of his death he was the drummer and vocalist of the Cajun Band, George Prejean and Cajun Redemption.

Survivors include his wife of seventy three years, Lessilyn C. Viator of Church Point; one son, Ray Anthony “Tony” and wife, Paula Viator; four daughters, Brenda and husband, Lee Olivier, Peggy Viator, Janice and husband, Michael Hebert, JoAnn and husband, Mike LeJeune all of Church Point; twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Ray, affectionately known as Dad, Pa, and Nonc Ray, by those who loved him most, was a lifelong resident of Church Point, LA. He was a devoted and selfless husband to his wife, Lessilyn Carriere Viator, for 73 years. Together they created a beautiful life and family built on love and their faith in God. They proudly shared five children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-children whom he adored. To know Ray was to love him. He could always be found with a smile with his bright blue eyes shining. He valued hard work and provided for his family with a long career at JP Mouton. In his early years he loved going out and listening and dancing to Cajun music with his wife, family, and friends and caring for and driving his classic car. In his later years he could be found rocking on his porch with his puzzle book enjoying the weather and visiting with family and friends. He loved entertaining his family by sharing stories of his past. He is fondly remembered as the one who always poked fun at and tickled visiting children, he loved joking around and making them laugh. In his last weeks he was cared for around the clock by his wife and five loving children and was always comforted and surrounded by people who loved him. He will be greatly missed, but always remembered as the most kind, loving, and selfless man. He has set a beautiful example of a long, full life and he passed away knowing he had completed his earthly job of being husband, father, and grandfather and he could not have done a better job.

Mr. Viator was preceded in death by one grandson, Baby Chris Olivier; his parents Edmar and Gabrielle B. Viator; his step-mother, Aimee Miller Viator; three brothers, John, Percy, and Clarence Viator; four sisters, Helen DeWitt, Sylvia Doucet, Verna Hebert, and Elma Relle Viator; host of step-brothers, and sisters.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to his friend, and physician, Dr. Ronald Jenkins. Also, Dr. Brady Guillory and the staff of Traditions Hospice Health Care.

Jim lived a happy, fun, and full life. His friendships and passions carried him from the cornfields of Nebraska to the crawfish ponds and rice fields of Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged. From there, he became a mail carrier with the United States Postal service, where he served faithfully for many years. In his spare time, he worked as a DJ at KSLO radio station where he received many laughs as the Nebraskan DJ trying to pronounce Cajun names live on air.Jim had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that never dimmed. He loved learning about all things but was particularly interested in aeronautics, space travel and exploration, NASA, maps, and weather. He was the perfect gentleman, always acting with honor and dignity that is rare today. Until the day of his passing, Jim prioritized and loved his family, his church, his community, and his God.

Mr. Schmitt was preceded in death by his parents, Winford and Violet Schmitt; three sisters, Virginia Hodge, Adaline Long, and Winifred Schmitt; two brothers-in-law, William Holly Hodge, and Robert Long; two step granddaughters, Bethany and Ashley Walters; several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born on May 3, 1938, Jessie grew up in Lewisburg, Louisiana, and graduated from Lawtell High School.Jessie’s family owned and operated Wimberley’s Sweet Potato Packing and Shipping in Church Point, Louisiana.It was during the early years of the business where he met and later married the love of his life, Dot (McBride) Wimberley.Jessie managed the packing and shipping business while simultaneously operating Wimberley’s Auto Parts and Texaco Gas Station. Many friends would walk through the doors of “the station or the kiln” for a game of cards, a cup of coffee or a friendly conversation.Jessie had a passion for thoroughbred horse racing.He would frequent the race tracks throughout Louisiana both as a trainer and a fan of the sport.His family and friends spent many nights supporting him and his talented race horses.Jessie was also a sports enthusiast.From his early days playing high school basketball for the Lawtell Eagles, his years playing in the Independent Men’s Basketball League and fast pitch softball for Canal Refinery and JAX beer, Jessie made many friends who shared his passion for sports.

Jessie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dot (McBride) Wimberley, his son, Girard “Jerry” Wimberley, son-in-law, Gerard Barousse; great-grandson, Rhett Wimberley; his parents, May (Bourque) and Irvin “Noon Noon” Wimberley, siblings Roderick and Mattie Wimberley and his in-laws, Harry and Myrtle (Rasberry) McBride.
